Potterton Boilers Review – Are they the right choice?
Potterton is a British company with a history stretching back to 1850. An incredible achievement in itself. They also boast that all of their boilers continue to be manufactured in the UK to this day.
One thing to be aware of is that Potterton were bought out by the bigger, Baxi boiler company.
While Potterton and Baxi are technically the same company, both continue to develop and produce different boilers under their own separate names and identities.
Potterton’s boiler range includes the following:
The Suprima HE boilers are a heat-only boiler. These are cheaper boilers, ranging from under £500. They have a B-rating for energy efficiency.
The Performa Combi HE is (as you can probably guess) a combi boiler. This means that they can provide both instant hot water and heating. The Performa Combi HE boilers have an efficiency rating between 87.3% and 91.1% and start from £640.
The Gold Combi HE A boilers are a high end combi boiler. They received a prestigious Which? Best buy award in 2010. They have a 90% and above, A-rating for energy efficiency.
Potterton are certainly a good choice as a boiler, but there a few things you need to be aware of before purchasing.
Before you buy:
- Always ensure you get the advice of a qualified engineer before purchasing. They will be able to help you decide which boiler type and capacity is best suited for your own individual circumstances.
- Even if you’ve already 100% decided on Potterton, don’t be in a rush to buy from the first place that quotes you. Different installers charge different prices, even for the same product. Plus their installation costs will vary from installer to installer. Remember, the price of the boiler itself is NOT the only thing you’ll need to pay for. You can see variations of hundreds of dollars, if not more, by the time you add in the extra installation costs.
The best way to make sure you’ve got the right boiler for you at the best price is to compare quotes from installers with experience in your area.
By partnering with top local and national installers and engineers across the UK, we offer the quickest, easiest and smartest way to get 3 free, no obligation quotes for your new boiler (and installation).
