Ideal Boilers are available in Combi, System & Heat-only models, and they also manufacture solar hot water systems and water cylinders for boiler use. All the Ideal System boilers were recommended by Good Housekeeping readers in 2013.

Starting with their Combi range, Ideal Boilers provides hot water on demand which is very economic to run, since they heat the water straight from the mains water supply, rather than in an external hot water tank. They’re also small and space efficient, which is great for small houses. Combi boilers are all heated with gas and rely on good mains water pressure, so if your mains pressure is poor, a Combi might not suit your needs. Also, if you anticipate the need for hot water from multiple outlets at once, a Combi also might not be right for you.

Warranties on Ideal Combi boilers range from 2 years to 10 years, depending on the model you purchase.

Moving on from the Combi boiler range, the Ideal System boiler range uses a central heating expansion vessel combined with the boiler and cylinder to heat water. This allows you to run more than 1 tap at the same time from your system.

Ideal has 3 different ranges of System boilers – the Vogue, the Logic+ & the Logic. Warranties for Ideal System boilers range from 2 years to 10 years. Lastly, the Ideal Boiler range includes their Heat-only line of boilers. There are currently 4 different models in this range, with warranties running from 2 to 7 years.

Heat-only, open vent, conventional or traditional Ideal boilers are suited to homes that already have a heating & hot water system. These boilers require a cold water storage tank in the loft, as well as a tank to maintain the water level of your heating system.

This range might be best if you are replacing an existing boiler with an older radiator system as it might struggle to handle the higher water pressure that the combi & system deliver. If your water pressure is low, a regular boiler might also be more suited.

Ideal Boilers are certainly a good choice as a boiler, but there a few things you need to be aware of before purchasing.

Before you buy:

  • Always ensure you get the advice of a qualified engineer before purchasing. They will be able to help you decide which boiler type and capacity is best suited for your own individual circumstances.
  • Even if you’ve already 100% decided on Ideal, don’t be in a rush to buy from the first place that quotes you. Different dealers charge different prices, even for the same product. Plus, their installation costs will vary from dealer to dealer. Remember, the price of the boiler itself is NOT the only thing you’ll need to pay for. You can see variations of hundreds of pounds, if not more, by the time you add in the extra installation costs.

The best way to make sure you’ve got the right boiler for you at the best price is to compare quotes from dealers with experience in your area.

By partnering with top local and national dealers and engineers across the UK, we offer the quickest, easiest and smartest way to get 3 free, no obligation quotes for your new boiler (and installation).
